The Tasbīḥ of Fāṭimah (s.a.)
After every ritual prayer, the Shi'a recite the Tasbīḥ of Fāṭimah (s.a.), taught by the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) to his daughter:
- 34 times — Allāhu Akbar (الله أكبر)
- 33 times — al-Ḥamdu lillāh (الحمد لله)
- 33 times — Subḥān Allāh (سبحان الله)
Imām al-Ṣādiq (a.s.) said: "The Tasbīḥ of Fāṭimah (s.a.) is among the greatest of remembrances. If I were to find nothing else, I would not leave it." (al-Kāfī)
The two narrations of her martyrdom
The Shi'a sources preserve two narrations regarding the interval between the passing of the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) and the martyrdom of Sayyidah Fāṭimah (s.a.): seventy-five days and ninety-five days. Both are considered reliable. The community holds its main programme during the period corresponding to the longer narration, and a shorter series during the other.
Her burial and grave
In the Shi'a tradition, Sayyidah Fāṭimah (s.a.) asked ʿAlī (a.s.) to bury her at night, in secret, so that those who had wronged her would not attend her funeral. Her grave remains unknown. The most commonly cited possibilities are:
- In al-Baqīʿ cemetery, beside other members of the Prophet's family.
- In her own house, which is now within the precincts of the Prophet's Mosque.
- Between the grave of the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) and his pulpit.
This secrecy was itself a final act of protest and of dignity — a refusal to allow her oppressors to claim a share in her mourning.
